Chino Continues to Soar in Japan
August 10, 2010
Chino's sophomore Japanese album, "Never Change", which was released last month, debuted at the seventh position on Japan iTunes Top Reggae Album Charts. Later climbing to second position that same evening. This was ahead of Bob Marley's "Legend" album, which remains in the number one position on most iTunes Reggae Charts, with the exception of Germany and Japan where reggae singer, Gentleman holds the number one position.
At last month's staging of Reggae Sumfest the venue came alive on Dancehall night to Chino's strong, clear vocals. He performed a plethora of fan favourites, and an ultra-sexy R&B remix of "Ruff It Up", making the ladies go wild.
Another feature which created a wave of excitement throughout the venue was the emergence of the captain of the 'ship', Freddie McGregor, who made a brief appearance on his son's set. When the band started to play the intro for "Protected" there was yet another surprise, brother, Stephen "Di Genius" McGregor came on stage, the crowd went wild with thunderous roars for the enigmatic youngster who is rarely seen outside the studio, let alone, doing performances. The two then performed other fan favourites including: "Clap It And Drop It", "Cyaa Friend Again", "Naw Forgive Dem" and "Cyaa Tek We Life".
Regarding his Sumfest performance and newly released album, Chino said: "I just have to give so much thanks to the fans both here and overseas for their support throughout the years. It's been a long journey and I want to say bless up to everyone who has been there and will be there to see my continuous musical growth."
