Once again hundreds gathered at Hilton Hotel, Kingston, Jamaica for the annual Pulse Caribbean Model Search (CMS) live competition. As usual categories included Fashion Model, Petite Fashion Model and Male Face, but this year Pulse took things to a new level with the introduction of their Full Figured Fashion Models.
The show was choreographed by Barry Moncrieffe and walking coach Donovan Marshall. Hosted by Empress, the event also featured the first official public appearance of Carolyn Yapp since competing at Miss Universe in the Bahamas. Who better to introduce full figured models to the runway than the confident, full figured songstress, Timberlee, singing hits such as "Bubble Like Soup".
The entrance of the full figured models to the runway erupted in whistles and applause, especially by male audiences, in celebration of a new era dawning in the Caribbean fashion industry. Finalists were judged on looks, stage presence, personality and poise for which 24 year old UWI student, Tka Briscoe was awarded the first Full Figured Fashion Model winner.
The competition proved to be such a successful that Pulse confirmed they would be introducing the reality TV series. The 21 full figured semi finalists featured in the live competition will be the first cast for the reality series.
