This year London Fashion Week celebrated it’s 25th anniversary. The UK has long been a prestigious destination for fashion, known for it’s cutting edge chicness, innovation and quality. Despite the declining textiles industry of the late 80’s, the fashion industry remained one of the highest employers in the UK. Since inception in 1984, LWF has provided the perfect platform to celebrate this achievement.
With today’s economical challenges, LFW 2009 failed to display signs of a looming recession, but instead, was rich in creative genius. Along with exciting beaded fixtures, Crystals and plastic graphics incorporated into designs, even models were physically challenged with the emphasis being on brassieres inspired by Madonna’s ‘rocket cone bra’ of the 80’s. Knitwear designer, Mark Fast, took things even further with the introduction of plus sized models.
LFW 2009, as usual, was a star studded event and an opportunity for the crème de la crème of the fashion world to assemble and gander the works of the hottest new designers. The likes of Donatella Versace, top fashion editors such as Anna Wintour, recording artists such as Estelle and Michelle Williams and fashionistas like Victoria Beckham were present.
